In CA, they passed a bill banned gas water heaters as well. Also, as part of the already passed "Inflation Reduction Act" the federal gov't now has authority to ban gas stoves and gas water heaters, but gas stoves is all that's in the headlines.

I live in the NE and had an all electric 2Br condo about 30 years ago. $300 electric bills in the colder months was typical. $600-650 in today money.
