"High tech equipment" is not some magic phrase that lets you imagine unspeakable powers that a hot air balloon can do. It's a balloon. There's not much that it can do that a spy satellite can already do - or, for that matter, Google Maps.

Right. But the problem with that is, China's government already has ACTUAL satellites for that. Ones that don't get blown off course by the wind. Ones that will actually behave the way you control them to. Ones that are more functional in every way than balloons are. And they have had these satellites for quite some time now.

I'm sorry that the truth is so mundane that it prevents you from being the smart hero who alone can see the threat to us all, but... that's politics. Most of the time, the truth IS mundane. And sometimes a balloon is just a balloon.
