In my 75-years, I have been pleasantly surprised many times by people doing humane things. Americans are programed to rise to the occasion. I remain an optimist.

At the present time we are being re-programmed…and not for the better.

I have been disappointed from time to time. But the good that makes up the American spirit greatly outweighs the bad. Sure, we have the KKK. But we also have the St. Jude's Hospital.

AFTER THE RECENT EARTHQUAKE, PRESIDENT BIDEN AUTHORIZED AN "IMMEDIATE U.S. RESPONSE" AND CONVEYED HIS PERSONAL CONDOLENCES TO THE PEOPLE OF TURKEY AND SYRIA. A REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT WOULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING SIMILAR. TIMES LIKE THIS REMIND ME WHY I LOVE MY COUNTRY.
