Firestar9990 announcement template (better) | Why do we care about being successful? We could just as well go commit a crime and get free food and shelter in prison. The only thing that keeps us out of prison is the freedom of not being there. However, why do we care about freedom? Is it because we want to give descendants freedom? Is it simply because we enjoy doing what we want to do? I think it’s because God made man with free will, and without the ability to exercise that free will, man is in an unnatural environment. This is also why we care about being successful; with more success comes more ability to exercise free will. | image tagged in firestar9990 announcement template better | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

Td:lr:

God made man with free will, and the reason we care about success is to excercise that free will that God made man with.

I’d think you’d be a good preacher for the Imperial Ecclesiarchy.

Just a stupid thought, but since life was originally made to consume, reproduce, and die

Does that mean the meaning of life is exactly that? consume, reproduce, and die?

That's a bit nihilistic. Humans are above that. The meaning of life is to serve God and to serve your fellow humans as well.

I don't believe in god (No hate for anyone who does), but I don't know if humanity (Or any possible intelligent life) was intended to be this smart. At most, nature probably wanted primates to be the absolute limit to smartness. I don't think we were supposed to become this smart, to the point that we can dominate everything. Dangerous Microbes? Just kill em with medicine. Predators? Safety precautions. Primates weren't very high on the food chain, so it's very unlikely we were supposed to be this advanced.

If god is real, though, then I guess our purpose is something else. Be good in life, I suppose.

You should believe. All the new people I meet these days are atheists.

I dunno, I support and accept people who take part in religion, but I feel as if I shouldn't convert unless I find strong evidence

Strong evidence? Here's something that you can try yourself; even if you say it doesn't directly prove the existence of God, you will likely say it proves the existence of higher morality, which is a requirement for the existence of God.

Try and be as good of a person as you can be for a week, even alone. Stop doing things like being cruel to others and masturbating (not assuming you do those things). Instead, treat others with forgiveness and mercy. Try to keep yourself to a high moral standard, at least for a week or so.
You may not be able to do it all at once, but you can always improve by a bit. You can refrain from insulting someone once a day (again, not assuming), and you can do something good for someone else every day.

If you try and do this, you will find that you improve as a person. Your peers start to like you more, you actually start to BECOME more wise and thoughtful. I know this from personal experience; if you look at any of my old comments you will notice that all of them lack depth or thought in any way.

If humanity was created by the sole proccess of evolution, being kind and merciful to others whilst holding yourself to a moral standard wouldn't be advantagous for the early man. It wouldn't help him survive, as it would have allowed people to take advantage of him.

This means that there is a higher morality, because if there wasn't, humans would all be murderous psychopaths. The 'Forest of Friendship'* principle of evolution not applying to humans means that the only reason we'd have morals at all is due to some higher morality.

I thought this all up myself, this isn't copy-pasted or anything. I'm saying this simply so you know that this is personal, and that I didn't just lazily google 'arguments for the existence of god'.

I realize you probably won't read all of it, but I'd like you to consider trying it.
