i don't think masochism is really rejected by society more like acknowledged and then "eh whatever" like most things and as you said it's satisfaction and sure it's a weird way of getting it but people are just weird like that with people into different crap

and yeah it's probably harmful but I'm pretty sure there's a point where they find it kinky to harmful but if they find very harmful to be kinky then that's probably a problem
