1984 is about.................. ALL goverments, hence why it refers to the whole world and that split into three ostensibly different gov'ts which all deploy the same tactics for the same desired outcomes. They all eat at the same table. This wasn't lazy writing, this was................ intentional.

Both are go-to's on how all goverments/societies/people work, although folks try to apply them solely to that which they criticize. Ironic, as that's a big point they both make. The 'them' are always the bad ones, we're naturally always the good guys...

I find most ppl didn’t actually read the books and just quoting crap they seen or summary. If ppl are so lazy then they could at least watch the movies

When I was reading it, this new song by David Bowie called "Heroes" was introduced on the radio. How weird and fitting was that? A (then) modern day forbidden love affair taking place in an oppressive regime akin to the one in the book.
