NARA didn’t report Trump until February of 2021 after elections and about 9 months after they noticed the missing docs in May 2020. And 3 months supposedly after Trump returned some but not all the documents missing in November 2020.
While Biden’s people found and returned the documents in less than two days. The administration wasn’t informed until a few weeks ago.
Not to mention both stories only broke once the DOJ was about to begin investigations into each issue. While I’m sure the mid-terms played a small part, I highly doubt that was the main concern. It could be! It was my first thought.
Problem is, people are equating Biden having a handful of papers next to Trump’s hundreds of missing documents; and Biden cooperating with the investigation while Trump does his usual “I’m a victim” schtick really fails to make it the exact same thing.
Personally, I find it far more alarming one man not only putting hundreds of documents in unauthorized locations, multiple locations than a couple, and saying he absolutely can do whatever he wants with zero oversight; while the other appears to not only be welcoming the oversight and taking steps to figure out how to keep this from happening again. Not to mention swiftly returned the documents without months long negotiations.
But sure! Biden is the problem because he is the grubby Democrat.
Believe me, I’d rather have anyone but Biden (or Trump) in office and I would prefer a Republican honestly. But no moderate is going to buy this false equivalency.
A partisan hack might.
