He held that force is necessary to keep an object moving. That goes against the concept of inertia, which suggests that objects remain in the state of motion until an opposing force is applied; a moving ball would move until friction and air resistance stops it.

Aristotle wasn't wrong, he justified everything according to his own definitions. He did fail to recognize inertia, as a thing.
