Every single Methodist Church in my area pulled a Methodist Tony! Oh, it gets worse though! A Methodist Church that wants to leave has to pay a 'quitter's fee' which can get very expensive. But hey, one's soul vs. a chunk of money should be a no brainer!

My church left the United Methodist Council also. We did have to pay the "quitters fee", but we voted on withdrawing early enough that we were able to keep our building and property. The fee was well worth it. All we've gotta do now is take down the cross and flame, which will be bittersweet to see it leave.
