Imagine if you will, had president Reagan conspired with Time magazine to suppress a favorable story about one of his political opponents? The media and the left would have gone ballistic. But now they do it routinely, and they're pleased with themselves for doing so. Pretty short sighted to sacrifice freedom for political expediency, don't you think?

Whatever happened to the left in this country? (a left that I used to belong to) At one time they used to care individual freedoms like freedom of speech. They had a natural and righteous suspicion of the govt when it tried to trample rights like that. It's all upside down now. Now it's the left who does all that, not the right. I haven't changed. I still find that a party that would do those things is not a party I want anything to do with.

Seriously, without the govt, the Dementia Joe campaign, and big tech conspiring to trample the 1st amendment, the voters would have at least had a chance to know about Hunter's laptop. That, all by itself was enough to sway the election.

Hell, the onslaught from the media against Trump for 5+ years, even without the laptop story, was enough to brainwash the collectively stupid American public into doing something they chosen not to do multiple times already, which was to elect Dementia Joe as POTUS.

So yeah, Biden had the votes needed to win the electoral college, but it was nowhere near legal due to the govt violating the 1st amendment rights of numerous individuals for no reason other than political differences and the lust for power.

And chances are you know nothing about what's coming out of Twitter now that Musk owns it, because the media refuses to cover it. They know it makes them look bad. Very bad. Fascist bad.

It might be too late to preserve freedom. As long as people continue to sit and wait for someone else to save us. No one is coming to save us, we have to do it. Start going to city council and school board meetings. Collect and gather together those with similar thoughts and demand civic action for problems. Protest is not for the left only, despite them believing it is.

100%. Even when I don't agree with someone's politics, I encourage everything you just mentioned. I think the left is better organized in terms of being on the same page and taking cohesive action to implement the changes and policies they want. Or, if I were to make it a partisan statement, the right is comprised of more individual thinkers who prefer to act independently. But I wouldn't do that... Regardless, the left certainly seems to get more done.

The left are now conformist. They pretend they are rebels but they have become the establishment. They are completely aligned with big gov, big corp, and big tech. They are hardly revolutionaries and can’t even perceive their own ideological betrayal.

As a Young_Elvis, I was not aligned with that axis of evil any more than I am now, and I felt far more comfortable being a liberal. I haven't changed, but the Democrats have. For all the excellent points you've made with that post, I just cringe and shake my head when I see what has become of that party. The festering media is the fourth leg of that festering stool, because they are essentially the propaganda arm of the DNC now, and they certainly are not going to tell the American people about any of this. Certainly not any more than they are telling us about the Twitter files or Hunter's laptop.

Yes, the disappearance of journalism in the legacy media outlets is the single biggest threat to freedom in this country. Luckily there are other sources for information, but imagine if we had journalists like those who investigated the watergate break in or so many other government, lawmaker, CIA mistakes, violations and cover ups. Imagine if they got nationwide unbiased reporting.

I hope I don't have to imagine... I remember that type of thing from when I was a young kid. Even at a very young age I had an interest in politics. It's waxed and waned over the years, but never went away completely. Way back in the day, I had zero reason to doubt one of the big three network anchors. Actual, real life, honorable journalists who investigated crimes (as opposed to looking for crimes by people they don't like) were practically heroes. The left has co-opted the media, and the media let it happen. Now the left is the party of the establishment and just accepting whatever a govt agency like the FBI does as being alright.

It's a crazy mixed up world. We have to keep our heads until this woke craze blows over.
