Actual conversation with my libtard coworker today, noting that the GSA rate for mileage on personal vehicles is going up on January 1st:

Him: That's surprising since the cost of gas has been going down
Me: Yeah, if it goes down about another 80 cents it will be the same price as it was 1/20/2021
Him: (totally doesn't get it) Yeah, and especially since there's the war in Ukraine
Me: Yeah, that and the war on fossil fuels...

All politics and opinions aside, this boils down to flat facts, then vs. now. Everything we buy in stores is manufactured using petroleum energy and petroleum products. All that stuff is also shipped by barge and truck.

Even the food at the supermarket is married to gas. Agriculture uses petroleum. Then food must be shipped to stores!

It not natural inflation if the government defunds oil production!

Well said - you're one of the few that actually get the cause and effect going on. We can't even be happy that the price of gasoline has gone down a little bit until the price of diesel comes down because, as you said, everything that we consume is brought to us by diesel and it is still $1.11 higher than it was this time last year.
