They appear to not understand that the Constitution anticipated a "Stop the Steal," event. It empowered the Justice Department to investigate ad bring charges against the hands-on rioters, while building appropriate cases against the co-conspirators, who facilitated their actions. Because o the gravity of the situation Congress was granted the power to investigate the big picture. The Judiciary is expected to fairly assess the various accusations. Dozens of the "foot soldiers," have been found guilty. Many dozens of others have pled guilty in a court of law. Hundreds more await justice. And additional hundreds lay low, avoiding possible charges.
The big fishes and the Chief Whale are nearing being charged for their crimes. They have exhausted their days in court trying to prove larceny at the ballot box. Various dozens of Federal and state courts have ruled that their assertions don't hold water. The have used their rights to appeal all the way to the Supreme Court and lost.
In short, the "party of law and order," have tested the legal system at all levels and found that it works quite well. So well that the "word on the street," is that many of the prime players are actively seeking deals. How that affects the trial of the "Capo," remains to be seen.
