Perhaps they could allow 2 accounts to be verified with the same phone number if having an alt account was a huge priority for people.

I never use my alt unless I get banned and make it very clear to the mods that I’m ban evading and then they ban that one, too.

I guess that solves one problem, but yeah, this wouldn’t be feasible given how many people are uncomfortable giving their phone number to a random meme website. Plus some people don’t have their own phone plan.

Also, even though this can stop a minority of alt spammers, some people might be able to find a way to circumvent this.

Yeah. And lets be honest, the majority of people on here are 13-16 year olds (if not, younger), probably without their own phone plan. So implementing this could potentially make imgflip lose its main target audience.

Verifying through email is really weak. I have catch-alls across 4 unique domains. I don't sock puppet at all but if I did I could generate an infinite number of accounts with emails that are under my exclusive control.
