An overabundance of booze and fried sugar have enlarged my heart to make sufficient room for tons of extra love.

Like if you agree, because likes measure love and dying with the most likes = winning. Nevermind, I've clearly lost it.

I have to disagree. Some of the people with the biggest hearts are people who lots of people avoid and even mock - people with down syndrome.

Fun fact: demand actually outstrips supply, and for good reason. You're fxcking right about people with Down syndrome.

I envy the shit out of anyone who gets an innately rosey disposition AND built-in permission to go home early. Being picked on by the witless dregs of normie society seems like a small price to pay. I bet my left nut there has never been a downie suicide. There would be no reason to! If I knew I was looking at a Neolithic-era life expectancy and the most demanding expectation placed on me until then was not drowning in my own drool, the biggest challenge I'd be grappling with was hiding how sorry I felt for everyone else!

I guess what I'm saying is I love them as much as I envy them, which is a lot, but their decency isn't measured by what other people think about them.

Lyman Frank Baum | You are not understanding the quote. Look again. It is not talking about the reality of what is in a heart, "A heart is not judged by how mu | image tagged in lyman frank baum | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

I tend to disagree. Does a homeless man who has not a friend in the world, seemingly unknown to the world lack love in his own heart as a result? Now if we're talking about God then it is true we love because God first loved us. But our value doesn't depend on human love alone. Thanks for posting!

Oh gotcha, so the quote basically means the level others judge your heart is an indicator of how much they love you? The more judgy you are the less lovey?

It occurs that favorable judgement of ones own heart being predicated on being the object and not the subject of love basically embodies a mexican standoff. Everyone must be loved by other people, yet gain no favor by the act of loving. It's like nobody can scratch their own back so everyone runs around scratching everyone elses' backs. No credit it given for the scratching, but being scratched is certainly satisfying.

It's kind of sad to see the value of love reduced to a glorified transaction. Perhaps I'm a romantic after all.

Here is a real world example. Figure out how the world regards her heart and why, and you should then understand L. Frank Baum's quote. Have a nice day!

Of course this is just one man's opinion, though its echo certainly resonates with a fair number besides.
