And Bill isn't a moron, most of these compounds are a product of petrolem (that be OIL!!!!!). You have nitric oxide in your body, in fact as essential for life as CO2. And acid rain? Trust me when I say it, I am as much an environmentalist as a person can be, but I also understand science, real science. Remember Mt Saint Helens? You know that whenever a volcano erupts it places a significant amount of acidic materials into the air. In 1984 I was reading a scientific journal I subscribed to that printed a satellite picture of the area impacted by Mt. St Helens fallout. The next month a different scientific publication I read had a satellite image of the area impacted by acid rain. The overlap was as if I held my hands together palm to palm. The whole world was going to be destroyed by acid rain back then if coal plants weren't shut down. The idea was to burn only low sulphur coals, uh whoops that's not nitric acid that's sulphuric acid. The debate proved that emmissions from the suspect coal power plants actually never migrated that direction (east to west) the jetstream and other wind patterns were consitently away from the areas impacted by acid rain, not towards them.
Never mind that acids, such as those produced by volcanic erruptions are essential for the creation of soil, those acids break down rock into the components that everntually produce food for life on earth.
Now Bill is not unaware of acids in urban air, such as the acids that combine with rain to erode the great temples and monuments of ancient Athens and Rome. Different source altogether from what fertilizers are being accuse of. Nitric acid is also neutralized when combined with ammonia to form ammonium nitrate.
Lightning fixes atmospheric nitrogen with oxygen molecules that precipitate with rain to become a natural fertilizer (notice how green things look after a rain?). This naturally formed compound called nitrates.
Bill recommends studying actual science from actual scientists, not political operators abusing a reasonable scientific illiteracy in the general public. For most people, scientific expertise isn't important for quality of life, so it's understandable.
Bill would also like to point to the fraud of ozone holes. We got rid of freon in the US and viola! The holes were no longer a problem. Never mind that as little as 5 years ago 85% of the world was still manufacturing and using freon. Seems DuPont freon patents were going to expire and corporate revenue from licensing the pro
