?what? I was talking about republicans in general.... Like in our society (based on the overwhelming amount of them here.) Basically as far as I know there is no evidence of them caring about Whelan... at least not here.... until now. (As the OP said)

But anyway if you want to talk about what repubs in government could have done, that's cool too....

Whelan was caught in Russia more or less in the middle of Trump's presidency. Repubs at the time obviously had the presidency/ Executive branch at that point..... as well as the Senate and half the House. Viktor Bout was in US custody at that point. All the pieces were there for that deal to have been made by republicans.

On top of that Repubs also seem like to claim Trump controlled Putin in a way.... The rhetoric that "Putin wouldn't have dared invade Ukraine when trump was president" for example. Basically trump was supposedly some great negotiator and Putin was (supposedly) controlled on some level by trump....... And on top of that...... at the time our government was not blatantly dumping military equipment into a country Russia was at war with.................. Yet no deal was made to get Whelan. He had 2 years.

So it would seem the argument could be made that repubs in our government also did not care about Whelan until now... "BrandonManBad".. and such
