Tbh, now that I think about it, it’s more like communication, kind of like how a trainer can communicate with their Pokémon but can’t really understand what the Pokémon is saying back (except in N’s case). Thus, the wacky ability to control plants would likely result in a telepathic-like communication between the leafwing and said grass type Pokemon, even if the Pokémon is not a psychic, ghost, or dark type.

Exactly. In a combat scenario, this would be kind of like Eevee using the moving “Helping Hand” or whatever it’s called and boosting the power behind the attack of a Pokémon on the same team. Otherwise, it’s essentially just communication and maybe a few minor energy transfers.
