If there is evidence of substantial fraud, the information should be referred to the DOJ for evaluation for prosecution. If prosecution is indicated that information would become public, in the process. We don't know what is in his tax record. And we should not, unless there is good reason. Our impressions that he is a jerk who probably lies every time he opens his mouth does not invalidate his right to expect privacy concerning his routine interactions with the IRS. This is no more and no less protection than I would want for my best friend.

How much Democracy should we stand for. Should we reserve its blessings only for those who defend it daily, in spirit and action? Should people who rail against it and actively seek its demise also enjoy the guarantees of rights as do its supporters? Our Democracy has survived more than 230-years. It survived slavery and our Civil War. It survived male only suffrage. It has survived World Wars and other military involvements. It has survived the Bund Societies before WWII and the Red Scare and the Weather Underground.

We will survive "Q." We will survive the extreme Right-Wing who fomented the 1-6-21 violence and defend its soldiers daily. We will survive the anti-Democracy MAGA-maniacs. Why? Because we hold the Best of Us and the Worst of Us to the same legal standards. Is our system perfect? No. It is the second worst system there is. The worst, by a country mile, is everything else.

There is no legal requirement that Trump must share any of his personal information with the general public. I could never vote for anyone who was not transparent about their personal finances, including their taxes. I am not defending Donald Trump. I am just defending what I see as a right to privacy that all Americans, including him, should enjoy. It may feel good to "win." But, suspending his rights, means you can suspend mine next, and they can suspend yours, etc. That is not the America I would want to defend. I know I am defending an ideal in the case of a guy who took a dump on our ideals. To me, that is what makes America Great.
