That's not how this works. This isn't criminal court. This is a democratic election. The people have a right to demand accountability of their public institutions. If the mayor says "Our city is safe and our water is clean!" it is not the responsibility of the constituents to prove the city isn't safe and the water isn't clean beyond a shadow of a doubt — it is the mayor who was elected to office to do a job to provide proof of their claims.
Public officials are public servants. They work for the people. We are not their peasants. We are their boss. When your boss demands accountability, you provide accountability. You don't yell at your boss about how stupid you think they are and gaslight them as conspiracy theorists for refusing to take you at your word. You provide the reports your boss demands.
