Don't some states force mail in ballots to not begin being counted until election day? Seems kinda like an unnecessary delay. I mean if it's because of a fear of cheating, can vote counters not cheat on election day? or what is the line of thinking behind that..?

I agree that the extra regulations on mail in ballots are inefficient and waste time. I know its my side that put those regulations in place. The thinking is that mail in ballots are less secure than votes in person for obvious reasons. The part I dont get is why there are so many mail in ballots. If you are out of the country, in the hospital or hospice sure. That makes sense. But that only accounts for a small number of mail in ballots

Why bother going to the place to fill out a ballot if you can do it in the comfort of your own home and mail it in...? I think you are underestimating the laziness of Americans.

Also I wonder how long it will be till there's a shooting at a voting booth location.... seems like it's just a matter of time at this point.

I understand how lazy people are, I work with many and have the joy of picking up their slack. But why should that be allowed for any reason. Dems got their foot in the door during covid to change voting proceedures. And after the covid scare has subsided, proceeded to kick the door wide open. It takes 10 minutes to vote in person, but it is Encouraged to vote from home now. And you cant deny that people sending in their votes is less secure than voting in person.

And maybe, there is crazy people out there. Its also possible that a mob beats someone to death, or someone drives an suv through the polling place.

Well beyond the sheer laziness of not having to drive, take the bus, bicycle, or walk to the voting place....when you're dealing with various props, measures, and candidates, it is also easier to research them while in the comfort of your own home.

Covid could be another reason people might not want to not want to go in person. It ain't much compared to where it was but hundreds of people are still dying from it.

Nah... I still don't think mailing in votes vs voting in person makes a difference. You fill out your ballot at home or not.... The person/people/machines verifying the votes and tabulating them in the total has all the power. They say if it's fake or not and they determine what vote is for what candidate and how many.

Car, gun, fist, knife, whatever method of probable future attack.... It'll be yet another reason to vote from home. And Republicans will probably say it was planned for that purpose.

So if someone owed you a considerable amount of money. They live 3 blocks away. And the agreed on a money order as an acceptable form of payment. Would you perfir to pick it up in person, or have them mail it?
Mail in my area, even local mail, goes to a sorting center out of state first. It changes hands multiple times, is left unattended on multiple points and takes about a week to get to its final destination. Lazy or not, I would think picking it up would be the prefired method. Even with the risk that you could get into an accident on the 6 block round trip, struck by lightning, or a plane falls out of the sky and lands on you.
