What is this PRESIDENTS community, exactly? What does it need more of? And how could we, perhaps, generate some buzz around it and bring in some new folks?

Well, we are a community of meme-politicians. Whatever that means. I do think most of us are somewhat-to-very-interested-to-downright-obsessed-with politics, current events, international stuff, and culture. And we sure as heck love to debate and talk each others' ears off.

But one thing that we could all learn how to be a bit better at is *listening.*

How do we do that?

POINT/COUNTERPOINT is a kind of impromptu forum, where each so-designated meme page is dedicated to discussion of a certain topic. It can be anything: Real-world politics, PRESIDENTS politics, the news, shows, movies, sports, food. The creator of the meme page has total control of the topic and the parameters: The discussion can be limited to only certain debate participants, or it can simply be made open to the floor, for the whole community to comment. The purpose of inviting specific participants is to encourage curiosity in what other people have to say: “I really want to know what [XYZ memer] thinks about this.”

Topics can range from the weighty (e.g. your views on abortion?), to the niche and stream-governance-specific (e.g. how should we bring back the Imgflip_Bank? Should we, even?), to the gloriously frivolous (e.g. best song off Taylor Swift's new album?)

It is a little like The_Think_Tank. But because the pace of this stream tends to be a bit faster than TTT, it will be more rapid-fire. Ideally, Point/Counterpoint debates should aim to be wrapped up within 48 hours of the meme’s being posted to the stream. Because with the frequency of posts here, no one looks that far back in the stream. You'll be talking to an empty room.

So!

Criteria for creating a POINT/COUNTERPOINT:

(1) The meme title (or text in the meme itself) must include the words POINT/COUNTERPOINT somewhere. This alert the community of the memer's intention to initiate a debate.
(2) Choose a topic. Pose a question. Anything. Kick it off.
(3) Invite the debate participants by shouting out their screennames. (If no one is specifically invited, then the debate is presumed to be open to anyone.)

That’s it, basically. I’ll get us started with our first one here in a bit.
