It's a terrible system. That's it. That literally all I wanted to say.

Well you know what? Let's take a vote on how we all feel about that.

I mean why not? It won't make a difference just like the democrazy of the state.

That's why the Founders put in a Republic or rather Constitutional Republic.

A republic just means there's no king. That's ALL it means. Democracy means people vote. We're both. Republic is a what, democracy is a how, and there's no conflict at all to us being both.

Because they saw commoners as too stupid and unworthy of being granted the right to vote, at first reserving themselves said right as aristocratic lords.

But fearing the prospect of their heads landing on a pike courtesy of recently minted rebels well versed in the art of overthrowing overlords afforded them the wisdom to grant said right to vote to rich landowning WASPs males, later expanding that to others further down ye olde social ladder.

The Electoral College was something they whipped up to counteract the results should the lower class dunderheads idiotically vote to elect a massive moron like they did in 2016 - that, ironically, by the EC that was meant to prevent it. Adding to the irony, the Repugs will be attempting to utilize that mechanism as a means to hijack elections and install their neu Fascist gov't come 2024 and beyond.

btw, ballot measures on voting ballots would fall under democracy,,,
