The Jan 6th committee is a clown show. If our representatives actually want to fix our political divide, they would do this:

Trump is the figurehead, him being barred from running won't stop the hundreds of gop candidates that are election deniers.

If it helps mend fences, yes.

I’m willing to give amnesty to most people who’ve at least wrongly believed the election was stolen, and organized action.

So as a result, he should be barred from running.

There is nothing that can be done to prevent election deniers from running but they can certainly be voted out or lose their elections. What would help with that, I think, is if Republicans traded in their golden idol for the disillusioned few.

I don’t think all should be pardoned. Certainly those guilty of actual assault. But a majority being held are being convicted for carrying, conspiracy, and threats to representatives. If Trump was barred, then I think it wouldn’t be necessary to investigate conspiracy.

I’ll even add the amnesty should only apply to those who aren’t public officials. Meaning those who were paid by the government or work for the government do not get amnesty.

You are giving voters who vote Republican too much credit.

Ironically it's this very softness (most Jan 6th traitors have been charged with trespassing and gotten probation with some community service as 'punishment'), that these yahoos least respect. Doing nothing has only invigorated them, not just they could get away with it, but because wimps, by definition, simply can't be in charge. Dead end trash seeking authoritarian figures to take control to help deal with their severe daddy issues and lack of drive due to their talent at being terminal failures actually like wimps. Drunk and at a bathroom stall at the bar.

Honestly, I’ve been given very little respect for my softness. The point I was trying to prove is they’d rather keep these people in jail than prevent Trump from running again. I’ve not been disappointed by the lackluster result.

And I at least understand those being held aren’t mere political prisoners as the fringe media tries to paint them as. They were used as pawns by Republicans and remain pawns by painting them as victims.

They’re far more valuable as “political prisoners” than they are as free people to the Republican Party.

Pelosi & Co didn't get rich by playing concerned citizen, nor was their selection of that embarrassing dunderhead, Biden, accidental. It's almost as if they..... still want Trump in the WH.

Democrats have this thing about being civil, down to the point of acute modesty which is all fine and dandy, but when GW Bush sent people a letter saying "I'm giving you this check for a $250 tax rebate" and the same taxpayer got one for $2500 during Obama - sans letter -people are going to notice. Or, rather, not notice. Most voters (myself included) don't bother reading this stuff on p26 in the NYT, they sure don't read minds either. The braggarts get to brag, the modest get to be sad.

There's a whole mess of trumpite election deniers on the verge of getting elected Tuesday, including from those swing states that Trump claimed he won except they didn't want to play along because it would have been illegal and they might have gone to prison. Well, in many of those, it won't be by 2024. Illegal, that is. Look up what the EC was originally designed for for the larfs.

As the only one on Planet Earth who predicted Trump's win in 2016 - and this even back when he was still a joke to Republicans with a higher than double digit IQ - I predict a 98% chance he wins it in 2024, his subpoena and other whatevs the liars are gonna nail him with one day that is still not today still waiting for him to show up.

I mostly agree. Though I doubt he’ll ever go to or see a jail cell. The idea of him winning his presidency while in prison with strangely Mandela and Da Silva vibes would be fitting for someone desperate to portray himself a victim and underdog when he is neither.

This one is a little more realistic. As I've even said on this site in the past, who will be fighting who in this civil war over what? Where will the trenches be dug? Where will they get their food when the Walmart ain't stocking it anymore because it isn't getting there? What happens when they get bored and they wanna get back to the trailer and their Xbox and Hot Pockets?

Jan 6th didn't quite make it to the 7th. I didn't notice anyone here missing that day.

But still, the gov't is getting hijacked by the GOPhonies. Tuesday will be an indicator of what will happen with fair elections, especially 2024.

For sure he won't go to jail. Doubt he'll be charged, and even if so, he would still have to be convicted which is even way more doubdtful.

I’d even go as far as to say Republicans could’ve avoided the whole January 6th committee if they stopped politicking for a second and barred Trump from running.

The problem is, what motive would they have to do that?

Self-interest. First for their lives, which were under threat that day, but were ultimately saved. So all they have to worry about is their political careers. Trump is too popular within their base to toss away.

But rather do what is best for the country, they do what is best for their political careers.

Fraud deniers need to stop denying the obvious... the 2020 election was stolen...

Sure... dems are the ones calling for packing the courts in their favor when they don't get their own way... LOL

But, according to you, they are already getting their way by a Republican dominated Supreme Court.

Nor have Democrats made any move to pack the court besides vague musings to do so.
