The mods who abuse their power were abused by their stepdad

I know you’re probably joking, but is that really justification though?

Idk I forgot

I can only imagine the abuse a mod could cause with that.

It's funny when you make a good point and they just delete it that's how you know you won the argument
2 ups, 2y,

But there is no evidence if you making that good point anymore. You would literally need to take screenshots of all your comments to prove what you really said.

Id say whine to the good mods but I don't even do it

I assume you're talking about the original. I haven't checked but if it's gone it wasn't the mods who took it down.

This meme oughta go too.

I was talking about the comment

Ah. Yeah, the meme is still up. Look, I want to be clear that I have nothing against the OP. It's neither here nor there but I've followed them for months and think they're cool af. I also feel badly that this bit of fun is essentially at their expense, because it probably makes them feel bad and definitely makes me look bad. Er, worse.

In keeping with the theme of the stream, from this point forward I'm going to focus on the original suggestion itself. Is it salvageable with revision? Are the benefits outweighed by the costs? Is it just irredeemable? I honestly don't feel strongly one way or another since rules either suit me fine in which case I don't mind them, or they're opportunities to devise a clever work-around. Win/win!

I disabled the comments because of the hate I was receiving

can you explain your reason to the idea plz

As a moderator, it can be really difficult to decide on whether or not a comment should be deleted. Sometimes, only one part of a comment goes against stream rules. If moderators could delete portions of comments as well as deleting whole comments, it would make moderating fairer and easier
1 up, 2y,

Why not just delete the comment
1 up, 2y
Because parts of the comment may actually contain beneficial insight on part of the image and some parts of these comments can actually be helpful, even if there's a really rude part of it

I beseech you to interpret it as strong disapproval of your idea, not hatred of you personally.

Anyone willing to hate someone over a suggestion isn't worth paying attention to in the first place.

That's shitty man, though it does say more about them than it does about you. I hope you flagged the offending comments.

Insults have no place in constructive discourse. Elsewhere maybe, but when I encounter them in demilitarized zones, my response is to fight fire with fluorine.

Yeah same
I ended up deleting the image because people kept on coming back and saying these things that were really hurting, and I was done with dealing with it

I feel you man (man?). It's negativity bias, an unfortunate feature of the human condition. Compliments fall through our fingers like trying to grasp grains of sand, and barbs get lodged so deep that the wounds they cause last forever. 😞

I don't see it solving anything, but if you'd like me to delete this meme I will.
1 up, 2y,

No, you don't need to delete it
And really any way of phrasing that whole man thing works for me, in this context I use "man" as a gender-nuetral term
1 up, 2y,
1 reply
Me too, but I made a colossal ass of myself the other day by assuming someone's gender and I'm a bit neurotic about it now. It was by far the most epic fail I'd ever made in that department, and it reduced me to a stuttering imbecile for the entire remainder of my exchange with that person. 😳

Yeah it always sucks to misgender someone
My advice if you want to avoid that is to always use gender-nuetral terms and pronouns for people until you know their pronouns for sure
1 up, 2y
My English teachers used to ride me about using "they" in the singular. Convenient that I'm already in the habit, but it only helps for references in the third person.

You and i both commented on that meme a few days ago, I don't understand the point you're trying to make

Just irony. This meme smacks of "look at all the fxcks I give" and pointing to an empty bag, except the person originally doing the pointing didn't mean for the bag to be empty.

Regardless of the who or why, I find it amusing that discussion concerning the original issue was quashed.

Users are free to disable comments. It wasn't quashed by anyone other than the original poster probably due to the rude comments they recieved just for stating an idea. This stream is for suggestions and feedback about the site in general and his meme fulfilled that purpose, I'm not seeing how your meme does.

Fair points. I'm not going after the person or the idea. My point is that by disabling comments on a meme that says "explanation in comments" instead of just deleting the meme, removing that language and reposting it, the poster invited the lampooning I dealt them.

I'll admit I'm being insensitive, but I have no sympathy for people who are only open to comments when they're what they had hoped to hear. It's not like the comments violated tos. Leaving the meme up in that farcical fashion instead of deleting and reposting it did more to hamper the suggestion than the negative comments did.

I don't disagree with you. However this stream isn't for complaints, suggestions, criticisms about other users.

Ikr, I'm not sure why this meme got approved. Tbh I don't even remember how I ended up in this stream in the first place. As I've said before, my instinct is to call BS or cry foul when something looks wrong, but I'm nigh to worthless when it comes to offering remedies. I should show myself out.

Wait a minute, I'm not addressing the USER at all. I KNOW you know better than to conflate an individual's actions with the actual individual...I guess I'm splitting hairs here.

Okay, so if the issue in the original meme has merit, then it deserves to be discussed. This is a forum in which people can do that. If their input is to hurl rotten produce at the stage, that's still useful feedback.
