It's a republic, as opposed to a monarchy. A democratic one. What are you getting at?

The Consitution doesn't refer to a country either, but a union of countries.

The Founders wanted to give the lower classes as little power as possible, the President, members of the judiciary and the Senators were not to be elected by them but by our new aristocracy or the officials they selected. The plebeians could only vote for members of the House of Representatives.

The Founders saw themselves as the new Lords, with the minions beneath them too stupid and unruly to have a say in their own affairs. See, they feared the tyranny of the mob as well, and for good reason - they just had booted mighty Britain out.

The nascent USA was one King Washington short of going Animal Farm.

That is interesting, How the founders saw themselves. And us. The more things change the more they stay the same. Also how it’s all about the “pursuit”. Well just keep chipping away, maybe we will get to that more perfect union. Some happiness wouldn’t kill us either.

That was the purpose of the Electoral College, after reluctantly granting the right to vote to WASP male landowners. they saw them as too stupid to elect the right candidate. That and a concession to loser states who wanted a bigger voice than their smaller populations warranted.

Hate to say this, but this is the end of the USA, since 2016.

You have an undeniably interesting and reasonable perspective. Every action…Being the eternal optimist that I am, I believe the good ol US still has some surprises up it’s sleeve. Some good surprises.

People elected a would-be fascist dictator, and turned it into a cult intent on overthrowing the USA, creaming over Communist dictators who are our enemies. Those who think some unknown savior will pop out of nowhere to prevent his sweep of 2024 haven't been paying attention.
Toothless faux attempts to finally get around to doing something about this traitor on a day that still isn't today are exactly that and nothing but, just like the lame impeachments.

I don’t see anything in that statement I disagree with. They are totally creaming themselves. And the resolve seems quite toothless. Right now really is their time. Doesn’t change my outlook. Nothing ever goes the way it seems like it’s going to. It’s the twilight zone. We are so close to almost making it right now. And at the same time so close to self detonation. Who knows how it’s gonna go. All I know is that it’s a wild ride.

They got a month left to do something? Not sure how that one will pan out,,,
