Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. set the standard for free speech, when he said, "Your 'Free Speech,' ends at my nose." Mr. Jones made millions of dollars saying the profane things that made him famous. You and I may not have liked everything he said. But, being offended had very little impact on us and did not fail the "nose test." A jury found that the daily pain from public ridicule and scorn suffered by people whose children's murders Jones used his considerable soapbox to deny, went beyond the limits of his freedom and heavily impacted others. His expensive lawyers did their best to try to prove otherwise and lost. Justice has been served.
