Oh aye, the History of Catholicism is overwhelmed by dedicated sinners in the face of what saints have ever existed. But still no ancient era should be judged by modern standards lest future eras do the same things to us.
Take events as recent in our own history as what we did at certain times and places in WWII. By today's leftist standards the people involved should have been sent to an equivalent of gulags. But had they not done some of the things they did we would have grown up speaking either German or Japanese and -- ironically -- hunting down and possibly executing all liberals since that WAS the culture of Germany and Japan. It gets interesting, yes?
