The problem is that the term is a loaded one, and has been used by certain circles which have thus stained it with a negative quality. Even a milder form, say, referring to Western or European Civilization brings those people to mind, or colonial history or those who started WWI & II, which are still a little too recent in memory for many people.

But that other groups get to do so without negative criticism is hypocritical, as well as patronizing. As if they're not quite up to par so they get a pass so they can inflate their egos. It's like their pride isn't good enough so they get to strut it. That's really just being condescending to them.

I agree, their community demands acceptance and tolerance, and cannot be stigmatized whatsoever in a negative fashion or light. The moment it is, lookout you will have a target on your back for being every type of hate mongering phobe in their book.

You talk about having pride in being white. Pride is the feeling you get after you accomplish something. Being born with a certain skin color is not something you accomplished.

Granted, "White Pride" may take on a certain air, connote things due to certain unsavory groups or historical events wrapping themsleves in it, but does that mean anyone with pride in their heritage or people is some kind of supremacist hellbent on wiping everyone else out?

Is Hispanic Heritage Month a bad thing now? (Well, maybe it is). Are we no longer all Irish on St Patrick's? Are Italians disqualified from celebrating Cristobal Colon - a Spainard - as their own and a symbol of pride because when they first arrived on these shores they were spat upon and needed an ego boost? Since that hasn't been the case in decades, can they give Colon back, not that anyone would want that raping massacring crud as one of their own anyways?
