20 months to for half of them? So they'll finish up in another 20 months or right around the 2024 political season? Wonder how democrats and the media will explain that they're okay with people having to wait 3.5 years for a trial.

That's not how it works but keep whining about how democracy is in danger because of the government. Unlike abortion, a speedy trial is a Constitutional right.

This guy wasn't arrested until August. He chose to plead guilty. You would have to look at each of the cases and look at how long things took and how much of delays their various court filings and need to prepare a defense took. Courts look critically on prosecutors who delay justice. So far, I have not seen one Habeus Corpus case claiming delayed justice. You need a few more facts.

Mr. Samsel was arrested for six cases of felony assault, all but one against women, prior to his arrest for felony assault on a cop on 1-6-21. At the time of his storming of the capitol, he was on parole for rape. His alleged attack by prison guards is complicated by his refusal to be examined by prison medical personnel to determine if he was indeed attacked and injured. Based on his history of violence, including a particularly horrendous beating of a pregnant girlfriend, he has been denied pre-trial release, by more than one judge. A superseding indictment has tied his participation in the riots to Proud Boys founder Enrique Tarrio. If he is your hero, why don't you offer to take him into your house. He probably won't abuse your wife or daughter because he's on your side, right?

There is no proof to your assertion that he "lost an eye," or was tied to a chair. That means those assertions are lies. And holding a suspect of violent crimes in prison based on a 15-year history of violence in the community, is routine designed to protect potential additional victims. Why are you soft on crime? Governor Abbot favors locking up rapists for life while you make excuses for them. I guess being a Trumplodyte justifies giving him kid gloves treatment.

Here's an update on Samsel, based on the recent court filings. His latest request for pre-trial release was denied because he committed crimes while on his original pre-trial release, coupled with more than a dozen convictions for violent crimes in the past.

"Rawstory" reports: Samsel has been in solitary confinement for 23 days after making threats to the FBI while in prison. He also penned a letter from prison saying that politicians need to end up in a woodchipper.

"All these poltions(sic) in office need to go, a woodchiper(sic) sounds good," he wrote. "I’ll tell people get your wepons (sic) kiss your kidds (sic) goodbye and let’s (expletive) go!"
