That's the usual route taken. Although technically the only 2 requirements are to be a man and a Catholic. Since for the past 600+ years the Pope has been elected by and among the College of Cardinals it's kinda a given you'd have to become a cardinal first. Great post!

The position of Pope was destroyed thanks to Martin Luther and King Henry VIII. And the Pope's were constantly as sinful as any other believer in the Dark Ages and Renaissance

The papacy was destroyed? That's news to me. Luther and Henry just made up their own church, they didn't destroy the Catholic church. And yes, Popes are human, there's good ones and bad ones all 266 of them since the year 33AD

Well, Luther himself didn't really do anything. He was basically the opening act for Henry with his 95 Theses. Henry completely abolished the pope's power so that Henry could remarry a bunch of times and divorce even more times. Henry did all of that simply so that he could have a male heir

Well, Henry did get a male heir, but he was very sick and died shortly after birth

He didn't get absolute control over the Church either, he just made the Church of England and the Catholic church continued having Popes. I do agree however that abolishing the papal States was a good call since the Pope should only be focused on the spiritual needs of people and not running governments other than within the church.

Still, he basically destroyed the position of Pope because the one Pope refused to let him get his first divorce

He no more destroyed the position of leader of the world's largest religion than the American Revolution destroyed the British Empire. A separatist is a separatist, not a usurper or a replacement.

He stripped all popes of their power, and made them equals to commoners basically.

What exactly do you mean by "destroyed the position of Pope"

And if i was Pope I wouldn't have given a monarch who had a complex an annulment just because he got another woman pregnant and he wanted to hurry up and marry her so he might possibly get a son out of the deal. How many wives did Henry go through again? Hmmm. Maybe the Pope wasn't the one making the bad choices in this situation.

They couldn't handle the departure of little England, so the Church collapsed. They just forgot to tell everyone,,,

Eh, not really, he made his own church the Anglican church or Church of England, without a Pope. The Catholic church and Papal succession continued as it had since Peter and has continued since so I'm not sure where you're getting he removed all the Pope's power. Henry basically had a tantrum because he didn't get his way and he thought he was the new pope when he really wasn't. In fact by taking on Ann as his wife while being married he was no longer a member of the church so any action of his was moot regarding the church, not that he could make decisions before that. It would be like me getting fired from my school as a teacher and then getting all my friends to say the principal there has no power. It really wouldn't do much, the school would just carry on without me.

It was Elizabeth the first who made the Anglican Church, as a compromise between the Presbyterian and Catholic churches (after the Catholic church was reformed by Elizabeth's sister Queen Mary [AKA Bloody Mary]) Henry made the Pope become just another priest, then made England's monarch the prime ruler of the Catholic church for some time, then the Catholic tradition faded for a bit.

Where are you getting these facts from? Also Bloody Mary and Good Queen Bess were labels given to the monarchs because one was Catholic (and regretfully killed some protestants, Mary) while the other was Protestant and killed many more Catholics, Elizabeth. It's obvious most history books are written with an anti Catholic slant.

Ok yes Mary did kill many Protestants, and so did Elizabeth with Catholics. Not sure how many tho. Henry didn’t abolish the papacy, but just split and literally created his own church. Coming from a Calvinist partially “historian”

I take a World History class. It was Queen Mary, who was a devoted Catholic, who murdered hundreds of Presbyterian believers in order to bring back Catholicism. This giving her the nickname Bloody Mary

And Henry had 6 wives

If you were a pope? You must be new to Catholicism. Welcome!

You should know that our teachings say that women do not possess the capacity to handle that amount of responsibility and leadership, those are masculine traits. Don't be one of those new-school Catholics who try to feminize men and pretend that women can do anything men can do. God made two genders for a reason, don't go getting funny ideas.

I'm aware, and not new to Catholicism. I don't have an aspiration to become Pope. I can't tell if you're being facetious or serious. And having only men be Priests isn't about organizational or leadership skills. Priests represent Christ who in His human nature took the form of a male so that's the only reason really.

A woman talking about what she would do as pope is like a dog saying what he'd do if he was a general in the civil war. All that is required of you is obedience and submission, women like you are the reason our grandchildren will only read about Catholicism in history books.

I see you gave me a follow. Youre not my type. your husband must be very progressive to allow you to spend your free time trying to get mens attention online

He's probably doing the same thing

Catholicism is the biggest religion in the world. The Pope shadows any of those mainly unknowns, and even the better known millionaire infomercial grifters.

That is correct, yes
