The correct overturning of Roe Vs. Wade (and any objective person agrees it should be overturned since it was a horrible ruling of law, regardless of the subject of the law) simply and correctly returned the decision to the states where it should have been all along. It's a state decision.

With abortion, reproduction, like life, begins at conception. So reproductive rights are not in peril here. Everyone already has reproductive freedom. No one is stopping anyone from getting pregnant or not getting pregnant. What is because addressed is the rights of the child of such reproduction and that child has a right to be protected from being slaughtered like sheep (there's the analogy).

"Row" v. Wade?!

LOL

RBG was a complex thinker. She criticized Roe v. Wade. Indeed, it wasn't a perfect ruling. Is any ruling? Really?

But the fact of the matter is RBG voted to uphold Roe v. Wade dozens of times. And her untimely passing mere months before an election is the only reason Roe was overturned.

What Roe v. Wade did was effectuate as close to a reasonable compromise on such a morally complicated issue as we are ever likely to have as a country. The ruling carefully balanced mother's rights, doctors' rights, and states' rights, while providing a federal floor for individual rights that states could not cross.

People who dismiss Roe v. Wade out-of-hand are those who have never read it, who have never seriously grappled with a woman's reproductive freedoms or made allowances for complicated situations.

Roe v. Wade's demise returns this sensitive issue to the rough-and-tumble of politics. If polling is any indication, Republicans are soon going to regret this "victory."

Yes... and she predicted it would be overturned... LOL

That's an interesting way of phrasing her thoughts on the matter. She voted to uphold Roe v. Wade countless times. Legally, Roe was solid law for 49 years until some hacks came in to undo it.

The politics of protecting women's rights are always vulnerable to backslide - that much is an obvious observation.

Nope... it wasn't solid... LOL

Wonderful - so red states have given up every attempt to regulate abortion outside their own borders?

Senate Republicans didn't just a few days ago propose votes on nationwide abortion bans if the GOP returns to power?

Good to know

Lindsay graham said that and was corrected by his own party. Pay attention.

Lindsey Graham and Mike Pence, yeah, just a couple of nobodies in the GOP predicting that a vote on a national abortion ban is inevitable next time Republicans are in power.

You're right! I should listen to you, you're way more consequential in directing Republican policy!

Pence IS a nobody after his betrayal of the Constitution and enforcing the rule of law. Why he rushed to judgement to certify a questionable election will go down in history as one of the greatest mysteries of this country -- until of course we find out what blackmail they held over him.

Graham made that statement and was rebuked by most of the GOP... Pence and Graham can fantasize all they want, but CONSERVATIVES recognize that abortion is purely a state issue and has no business being allowed or restricted federally (with the obvious except of taxpayer funding bans because that does affect the nation).

We argued that with getting Roe corrected, we cannot become hypocrites like the liberals and claim it's now ok so long as it's a ban.

Well I'm certainly encouraged to hear some pro-lifers are sincerely holding onto the "states' rights" argument that was used to sell the overturning of Roe.

Unfortunately the beating heart of the anti-abortion movement is now abortion abolitionism.

Come on. You knew it was coming. How do you sell abortion as "murder" and then not push to criminalize it literally everywhere?

It wasn't "sold" as murder. It is in fact murder. By definition regardless of if you support it, it's still legalized murder (in some areas).

It would be a great day if all 50 states and all territories did wisely outlaw this horrific and shameful procedure. The pro-abortion folks wouldn't like it (and you cannot say pro-choice if you say anti-abortion), but done legally it would be wonderful for this country.

97% of abortions are for the sake of convenience. Exceptions for the true life or death of the mother should be allowed, but those are very very rare. Rape and incest are horrible starts to a life, but the baby should not be punished of course. The mother could be given the option of a medically induced coma if she didn't want to carry the baby consciously. Then after the baby is born and adopted out, the mother could be awakened to resume her life. That would be rough, but her body, her choice definitely applies there.

Even better, medical science (not the junk COVID crap from Fauci and others) could progress to the point where a baby could be removed from the mother safely and brought to term apart from the mother. Only for rape/incest cases of course. It could be an elected process paid for privately for the convenience abortions.

All of these would be much better than killing an innocent child.

There is nothing stopping anyone from controlling their own reproduction, KF.

So nobody is livestock, certainly not based on this particularly silly criterion.

It's just the *when* that you seem overly obsessed with as far as that control. If you could just do it *before* there's another human being's interest to take into account...

Regardless, you may have a good point to make, KF, but this meme fails completely to do so.

KF, for something that should be more at your level than a silly meme, check out this link. I'd bet you've already read Sagan's article from Parade Magazine regarding abortion, but if you haven't, it's worth a read. Very short.

Not short at all. And while he presents a scholarly sounding viewpoint. He still gets it completely wrong (as he did with evolution). Abortion is the murder of a human being. For a twit that believed in evolution he should know that conception is the start of life. But no he gave his weight to extermination on demand. Pathetic.

Yeah, I probably should have said it's a quick read. Short sort of implies something absolute in terms of how long or brief the article is, but relative to even a short book, it's a quick read.

I wouldn't dismiss Sagan's point of view so out of hand. While I may agree with what you said, the bottom line is both sides are pretty well set in their position on this, so any compromise could be viewed as progress. Notice I said could.

And I think there's always some value in engaging the other side, particularly if they truly are open minded on the subject, which Sagan seems to be. Or at least he was trying to present himself that way.

Keep in mind I was just trying to engage KF on the subject matter in a way that was slightly more productive than a childish meme.
