Who cares about being misgendered. I'm not saying that it's bad to be trans but if you just stayed your gender it would be easier.

babies don't even know what a gender is, how would they know if they were trans. besides, they still have to make a conscious decision to become the opposite gender.

They are born trans, even if they are not born knowing it. You were born human (I assume), and when you were born, you had no idea what it meant to be human, yet you are still human (I assume). They have to make a conscious decision to legally become the opposite gender, but in their hearts and minds, they were always the opposite gender.

I'm around many people who are trans or non-binary (and I am trans myself), I haven't seen a single person get mad about being misgendered, at least when accidentally misgendered, nor do I get mad about it.

If it's intentional (e.g. calling a trans woman 'he' intentionally), then the person being misgendered has every right to be at least a bit mad. It'd be like walking up to someone who used to be named John but wants to be called Brian and calling him John.
