For whatever reason nobody has mentioned the aspect ratio of the screen- on Chromebook you cause this rotation with ctrl+shift+refresh, but that rotates everything including the side bar graphics. Maybe you attained this by setting your menu bar to bind to the left-hand-side, but that doesn't explain the thin aspect ratio.
