A terrible bigot, but he did have principles - unlike conservatives today. | My father was a registered Democrat. That was back when the party represented conservatism & white supremacy. He loved the way Roosevelt put Japanese Americans in concentration camps. Over the years the stances of the 2 major parties changed. By the time Reagan ran for president, dad's loyalty had fully shifted to the Republican party. If he had lived to see MAGA followers denying that history, he would be disgusted. My uncle was a registered Democrat who was old school racist and sexist, then somewhere around the time of Clinton he seemed to notably switch parties as far as defending Bill's impeachment and then with what Bush was doing in Iraq. We used to argue a lot over politics during holiday dinners but he's such an asshole that I eventually stopped speaking to him altogether, and this was before Trump even came into power. I imagine him wearing full MAGA hats and everything now. No way I would've tolerated that at Christmas so it's probably a good thing we're not speaking anymore. XD
