I financed my degrees through a combination of scholarships, work, and an education fund (thanks Grandma), and was fortunate enough to end with no debt.
My wife financed hers in much the same way and ended with about 30k in debt, which isn’t very much compared to the burden some carry. We still have it, since we’ve taken advantage of the pandemic pause in repayments and interest.
Between the two of us, we make a bit too much now to be included in this debt relief, but are we bitter about it? Hell no. We’re thankful to be in a position to pay it off ourselves, and glad that those who are making less than we do will get some overdue relief. This economy doesn’t work for all college grads, to put it mildly.
There, that wasn’t so hard.
