There’s a lot of support for Putin on the Right. Russian propaganda is effective at portraying Putin as a savior of “Western Civilization” (despite standing against “the West” in every other way) and being against a lot of the things Western Righties are against, like global finance and LGBTQ rights.
But a dot that many of them haven’t yet connected is that in the global scheme of things, Putin serves Chinese interests. Particularly after the Ukraine invasion, Russia has fashioned itself as a giant North Korea that’s putting its chips on Chinese economic ascension and displacement of America.
They’re two sides of the same 21st Century, anti-American, anti-democracy, anti-freedom coin.
