Legit, the conversation new reporter asked a House Rep. Insane

I don't know if it was an accurate report or not, but I heard that in order to get the rebate for buying an EV, its battery has to be US-made. Good luck with that.

Do you know what percentage of batteries are made in the U.S. that would qualify for this "tax-rebate" which is actually subsidized by your inflated tax dollars already?

I do not! That's why I mentioned that I didn't know if the report was accurate or not.

And I'm not interested enough in this latest demotard boondoggle to do any research into it. I do recall hearing that our dear friends running China, the CCP, have made great inroads towards cornering the market on the source metals needed for EV battery production. So it would be logical to assume China is #1, probably by a good margin.

Regardless, I can only assume that when libtards are involved, they'll... 1) choose an approach that is anti-American, and 2) screw it up somehow.

Sorry, I meant for my reply to be sarcastic. But I did a little digging into this and found that 58% of the world's lithium supply comes from China, Argentina and Bolivia. China, South Korea and Japan control 87% of the world's EV battery manufacturing. The U.S., as a whole, does domestically produce 70% of battery cells, but almost all of those domestic batteries are made by Tesla. FYI, Tesla was not included in the EV bill or even in the discussion with gov't about switching to EV cars, only the big traditional ICE auto makers got to chat with Biden's administration.

So it's very clear this bill is just more of the same, big industry lobbyists getting richer with congressmen while we pay for it all.

Regardless, I'm glad you looked into the facts of the matter. I recall hearing some news about China buying up the mineral rights from relatively poor African countries, so I'm not surprised to see Bolivia mentioned as well, although again tbh, I don't know much about Bolivia, so I don't want to throw them in the same category without knowing for sure.

China may have their hooks into other mineral rich, relatively poor countries as well. As evil as they are, we can't accuse them of stupidity. And they definitely think more long term than I think we do.

Why am I not surprised that Tesla was frozen out of this? Politicians are gonna be politicians, and that means favoritism, not what's best for the people. It's pretty sickening imo.
