You fail to understand the corporate regime, Catch up to the future of neo fascism we are living in! The lifestyle we are sold is a lie. And the corporations are the same oppressors of old. This is not a matter of conflicting models! All models are detrimental when power is centralized and individual empowerment is sacrificed for some false ideology. Capitalism fails because corporatism (fascism) fails. It is no better than marxism. So the original statement IS NOT WRONG! THE CORPORATE SOCIO ECONOMIC MODEL IS DESTROYING US!
You may wish to consider that COLLECTIVISM is what we are really raking about.When the individual is not supported, conventions fail and societies collapse. The corporate model presents all the same disparities you cite, thus reinforcing my observation that it is destroying us...every bit as mercilessly as any marxist ideal.

Prosperity in societies fluctuates over long-term cycles. Always has; always will. Going back in time through the middle ages, the Mayans, the Romans, the Greeks the Ming’s and probably as far back as ancient Egyptians, income stratification in societies existed. Lately if anything has been detrimental to society, it would be the removal of the gold standard and the creation of fiat currency. Zimbabwe in 2006 is a modern example our country doomed by its monetary policy.

Gee. you seem smart, using your words, but while I don't necessarily disagree with your observations, they in no way contradict the original statement in the meme. In fact, you are supporting it. There is NOTHING today which is any more lethal than the corporate model. We are, in fact, saying THE SAME THING. The longevity of any cycle depends upon, at least partially, the wisdom, or lack thereof, of those leading in it...as well as those who follow. You correctly point out that this is nothing new...but we always come to new opportunities for correction which can add to longevity. The opportunity is here once again to reject the failed paradigm or watch ourselves fall once again.
