I wrote a letter. In it I basically gave a timeline of every realization I had about myself starting from the time I was 5. That was when I was 18, 12 years ago so it was just bi and crossdressing at that point. (Much less vocabulary then today). They handled it really well, which was surprising living in rural Texas, but they were always the hippie type too. That's just what worked best for me though. Idk what your exact situation is like.
