Profile of the only pro-impeachment House Republican thus far who hasn't retired and actually survived being "primaried." Worth a read.
tl;dr - Newhouse cast the impeachment vote, has said basically nothing about it since then, and has worked extra-hard to keep the locals happy. But making "outspoken Trump critic" part of your political brand, a la Liz Cheney or Adam Kissinger, just doesn't seem to fly in today's GOP.
Maybe Liz Cheney pulls a rabbit out of a hat and gets enough Democrat/Independent support to defy the odds. Hope she does. But if she doesn't, it will further confirm what I suspect, which is that the only real vehicle for opposing Trumpism in this country is the Democratic Party.
