"The president has no control over gas prices."
Not true. The president has immense control over how much oil is produced in this country by way of the leases that the govt controls, which are currently quashed due to Biden's EO's, which are part of his unrelenting assault on our fossil fuel industry. Nobody should be surprised by this, because he promised to do just that during the campaign. We get what we deserve, hey democrats?
If we're energy independent, as we were until Biden took over, then US supply more easily meets US demand, which of course leads to lower prices. The fact that Biden seems to feel the need to go hat in hand to murderous thugs around the world and beg them to increase production, as opposed to increasing production here at home only displays how little he truly cares about the middle / working class, in spite of all the BS he spouts when pushing inflation producing bills through Congress. And why doesn't he care? He's under intense pressure from the left of his party to transition to electric (a lot of which is not produced cleanly anyway, but they can't figure that out.)
We're headed in that direction anyway, so if the left could somehow muster the maturity to be patient, we'll get there. But for now, with 1 in 10 cars on the road being EV, and states like my own Taxifornia telling us not to run appliances between 4PM and 9PM due to a lack of reliable production from renewable sources, we're just not there yet. Besides, not everyone can afford to just go out and buy an EV, as the Brandon administration said we should do.
