Jesus is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah.
Satan is presented as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
Jesus compared himself to a serpent, believe it or not. He said he would be raised up like the staff of Aaron's staff was the image made in the old testament story. In the old testament story, God punished the Hebrews by sending "fiery serpents" to bite people, and to save them from the poison they had to look upon the image of a snake wrapped around a staff. Jesus compared himself to that snake on the staff, as an allusion to people looking upon him on the cross for salvation.
The symbol of a snake wrapping around a staff sounds similar to the intertwining serpents we see in a lot of medical facilities.
There's a verse about David's mighty men slaying "Lion like men" (Middle eastern version of Marvel's Sabretooth?)
Also there's something in the Bible about being Shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves.
Daniel represents the Babylonian Empire by a lion with wings (one of their dieties), the Persian Empire by a hunchback bear with 3 ribs in it's mouth (persians, Ethiopians, Medes) because the Medes were said to look like bears, the Greeks were represented by a leopard and the Romans this horrifying creature with metal teeth and claws.
I forget the verse but there was also an allusion to an army being like a giant lion that destroyed cities.
Hmm that last bit about giant creatures reminds me of Kaiju, but also how political cartoons represent nations (China being a big dragon).
