To come out to my mom, I said "Hey mom, my eyes aren't the only thing about me that isn't straight." (I have a lazy eye), and then I was more serious. My suggestion would be to come out to someone you know/very strongly think would be supportive of you with a little coating of humor. They might be more willing to accept it that way.
