The prospect of a second Trump term, when he’ll no longer again be accountable to the voters because of term limits, is horrifying.
This is standard Trump patois, not even that objectionable in the grand sweep of things — but what sitting President actively cheers for the demise of independent, critical press outlets? One who fashions himself as totally above criticism.
Others like Ron DeSantis and Mike Pence — though extremely conservative and very apt to implement policies like a nationwide abortion ban that would send out country into premodern eras of superstition — would at least not be actively treasonous. In Pence’s case we know that for a fact due to how he actually behaved on Jan. 6.
