literally last week some cuck praised ron desantis for cutting taxes on gas purchases, and now here we are where biden is doing the same thing essentially and imgflip are opposing it. no values lmao

Who is opposing a tax cut? Just saying it's not really addressing the problem. It's a band-aid on a bullet wound. Cut regulations. Encourage companies to pump more oil and gas.

even better: encourage americans to take the train instead of the car. that way travel is far cheaper

Please do research on train infrastructure failures around the world. China, California, Spain, etc. Train travel replacing cars and planes is another fantasy. Amtrak has been losing money for years. Research what is going on right now in Great Britain.

"Please do research on train infrastructure failures around the world"

already done. mostly they're successful. california had some stumbles in the beginning, but it's complex project is fixing itself up. spain only has had pitfalls due to the rapid pace of building HSR dealing with slow psychology not adjusting to the presence of which. china has lost billions on hsr, but also builds it at a faster pace than any other country in the world.
train infrastructure failures have to be cherrypicked to build a narrative.

meanwhile, japan, germany, france, and italy are success stories in the railroad infrastructure.

"Amtrak has been losing money for years"

amtrak's business model is focused on rural populations as well as the northeast. of course that's not going to be profitable.

"Research what is going on right now in Great Britain"

yes, i know about HS2. however, the real success story in britain comes from legacy. HS2 is only 1 mistake pitted against several successes:
the channel tunnel
the east coast main line
london underground
blackpool tramways

Is there a train near you? The nearest one to me is about two hours away. How am I supposed to ride a damn train?

get your local & state governments to back one up. the nearest train station for me is 1 hour away, and it only arrives after midnight. it's why i'm pushing for a rail service to asheville, nc.

privately-owned rail companies also exist, though they're more likely to run in cities with valuable property.

Train travel will never replace cars and airplanes. Infrastructure costs are too high. They are only practical in large population centers where the infrastructure already exists.

"Infrastructure costs are too high"

highways are way more expensive, and don't turn a profit where trains can.
air travel, on the other hand, is usually too expensive for the average american. especially on short distances.

If trains are more efficient, why don't we use them? Please research how the US switched from trains to cars & planes after WWII. Please research failed train projects. History is the proof.

"If trains are more efficient, why don't we use them?"

the oil industry wants us to buy cars and use planes, so they lobby as hard as they can to keep rail projects out of mind and out of sight.

"Please research how the US switched from trains to cars & planes after WWII"

general motors streetcar conspiracy. basically a private company hijacked the people and congress' minds and killed street-running railways and private passenger rail for government-sponsored taxpayer-funded boondoggles we call freeways.

"Please research failed train projects"

almost none of them. too many successful ones. the only way you'd win this argument is if a country regretted their high-speed rail plans after completing them (not after starting them like california).

Sorry to accuse you of something you did not do. Trains are still fantasy. Most existing rail systems are government-subsidized and can't even pay for themselves.

By turning off "reply" you have proven that your faith in your socialist God is true and strong. You were tempted with logic, history, and common sense, but you did not falter in your beliefs. Your faith will be rewarded. Go in peace.
