China is very attention seeking, therefore they're waiting till we are totally undistracted so they can rub their kumquats in our face,,,

Because it would be sooooooo much better to simply wait and see how well that turns out before making moves that won't get noticed at all by the rest of Planet Earth after Russia is finished?
