Jesus wanted the Church to be a House of Prayer, not a House of Violence. Peter was also the Cornerstone of the Church. That would've been bad messaging if Jesus let him get away with it.

It's the same reasoning God gave the Hebrews when they were building the Temple. NO WEAPONS PERMITTED.

If people want to guard churches then do it OUTSIDE!
