Yep, and we have the Scottish ones which are bigger, and far more painful. They hurt when they are small, but when the grow to be about 8 feet tall, then they really get painful.
Quick question:
How do you step on an 8ft tall Scottish milk thistle? You must be pretty tall lmao

It isn't milk thistle, and you can't step on it when it's that tall, although you can fall into it and back into it, plus, it's thorns sting for a long time after you get stabbed, and they penetrate leather.
Thistles are painful. Nettles are painful too. I mean, try walking outside in summer and then step on a nettle or thistle and I can assure you you'll scream in pain.
Thistles have small thorns, but the only nettle we have where I am (northwest MO) is stinging nettle, which certainly isn’t pleasant, but it doesn’t start hurting until a few minutes after you touch it, and it only lasts a few hours.
I once got bitten by a wasp. Not Stung, bitten. Hurt like a stab wound for several minutes, then when I got inside to check on it it’s saliva had burned a sizable (1/3 inch) hole in my leg, with the swelling covering half of my thigh. It took at least 3 days to start getting better.
