Sometimes when commenting a meme, it becomes a black image instead

That happens to me sometimes to. I think it's something to do with the template not fully loading in the Meme Generator.

I find it very interesting that you appear to have done it here on the first try, with no drawing or image added inside. Are you a wizard or do you have a way to force it to happen?

If you just quickly exit the meme generator (not leaving it time to fully load) then that’ll happen.

It happens after generating a meme and pressing the comment button too quickly and not letting the preview imsge to be loaded or just bad internet connection that image preview is not loading and then pressing post comment button.

All these gifs had Play Count setting selection of "1", in the gif-maker and were displayed like that in the approval queue, but after featuring the pages play like the Play Count setting is "0"

The "play count" is kind of an antiquated feature of the .gif file format itself, and probably not something we would have deliberately added for GIFs playing on Imgflip. It doesn't really make sense to ever prevent someone from being able to see a GIF play again. I suppose it could make sense to still respect the "play count" but then add a "play" button for the user after it finishes. Would this be ideal? Or do you not actually care much about play count and are mainly just reporting the bug?

The reason this bug happens is that we use video format to play GIFs on Imgflip most of the time, and videos don't have a "play count" setting so we would have to write code to manually stop and start the video.

IMO I think respecting the play count is the way to go. For image pages, I think giving the viewer the option of additional plays with a button would be ideal.

For click to show, respecting the play count would make this gif behave as intended, and stare at you at the end: 4odnl3.gif (click to show)

As a click to show, they display properly in the preview with 1 loop, but continuously loop in the displayed comment. 🤔

Oh hey it's my bug

Sometimes the screen goes black on mobile devices so i have to reload the site by exiting and going back in

I found one that might be a bug, but it's actually pretty useful.
On the gif maker, there's a button that says "Add Text to gif." The Imgflip Pro plan advertised adding more text boxes to gifs as something you had to buy. but somehow, I figured out how to add more text to gifs. Not sure if this was a bug or not, but it's certainly helpful.

I've noticed some of the gif-maker limits were increased for the free version, from 80 frames up to 120 frames and from 6 megapixels to 9 megapixels. I hadn't tested the new added text box and added image limits.

Somewhere out there is a generous Mod :)

Ugh, the .webm video encoder seems to just always have problems randomly, regardless of what source the video was created from. Just checked a few more recent gif videos.

Ended up disabling webm entirely. Mp4 videos always work fine and webm was only a tiny optimization anyway. Should be fixed now.

That comment was two stacked opaque images, just agreeing that I've seen the bug.

oh, is this just about the "auto color" that it's choosing? it uses the pixels from the original image it seems, not the transparency color that was selected. can always choose black or white instead though.

I see the notification on my phone but can't open the message. I can reply on the desktop. Which reminds me of the memecat spam....

I don't see any browser settings to restrict pop ups but maybe another security setting will fix?

When I got a comment notification on a gif post, it only brings me to the page instead of the comment. This is very annoying especially on a post that has a lot of comments

Ah thank you for bringing this up and sharing the screen video. There was a bug in safari browser where they completely remove the hash in the url if there is a redirect (no other modern browser does this). Should be fixed now.

As a side note, Safari is a shit browser and causes all sorts of extra unexpected errors like this, so I'd advise against using it :P

That can happen if the comment gets deleted before you open the notification, also that can happen if the comment is low rated.

The url link to a comment will have a #com and number at the end, like comment #6

The second link works for me but it's a little wonky. It leads to one of your comments but not with the usual precision. Sometimes there is a little padding and the page opens a little higher than the top of your comment, sometimes right on your comment.

I noticed the link in your comment history displays a title, but there isn't a title displayed on that gif page.

I think the title displayed in your comment came from the template name, I think that template name should have added a tag to your creation and would be the default title if you never edited it before submitting.

If the developers are working on something related to titles rn, might work itself out soon.
