Trump did make comments about putting all their eggs in one basket. But he sat on his hands and allowed Russia and Saudi Arabia to manipulate the market, during his tenure. Things got so bad that in 2020 there were only 251 active rigs operating in the US, down from almost a thousand when he took office. And that same year almost 20-drilling companies went bankrupt. Chief among them was Chesapeake Energy who had led the fracking movement that made the NG boom in the US possible. Trump was Trump. All talk, little action.
